Application Requirements
The 2025-2026 Application Cycle for Long-Term Trainees is open from February 1 - April 27, 2025.
Eligibility for the graduate student stipend includes acceptance into UC-LEND as a graduate student long-term trainee, a U.S. Citizen, and current enrollment in a graduate program at UCLA or UCR.
To apply to be a UC-LEND trainee, you will need to submit the following at the application link below:
- Contact information
- Two short-answer questions:
- What interests you about the UC-LEND program and what do you hope to achieve as a UC-LEND trainee?
- How do you define leadership?
- Resume or Curriculum vitae
- Current unofficial UCLA transcript
Letters of Recommendation
Applicants are also expected to have two completed UC-LEND Recommendation Forms submitted by advisors, supervisors, or other individuals that can speak to the applicant’s ability to succeed in a professional and/or academic environment.
- At least one recommendation must be from either a faculty advisor or supervisor (UC-LEND faculty may serve as your reference)
- Recommenders should send forms to uc-lend@mednet.ucla.edu directly. Applicants should not submit forms on the recommender’s behalf.

This training program is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under training grant T73MC30114. Based on grant stipulations; in order to receive financial support under this program, a trainee must be a U.S. citizen or non-citizen national or other permanent resident of the United States.
