Dr. Zoe Figueroa, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist who obtained her doctoral degree from the University of California, Riverside. During her doctoral research, she identified functionally unique astrocyte populations that contributed to inflammation control, infection and methamphetamine-induced pathologies, and disease progression. She earned her B.S. in Neuroscience from UC Riverside and, prior to obtaining her doctorate, gained industry experience from an Alzheimer’s disease focused biotechnology company, Leucadia Therapeutics.

Dr. Figueroa’s passion for studying neurological disorders and disease arose through her own unique neurodivergent experiences being diagnosed with ADHD at a young age. She values inclusivity in all aspects of her career and strives to be part of change that creates greater diversity in the scientific and medical fields. She plans to apply to medical school to become a physician neuroscientist and help bridge the gap between research and clinical practice. In her free time, she enjoys reading, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her husband and cat.
