Madie is a doctoral candidate and fifth-year graduate student in the Spanish Linguistics MA/PhD program at UCLA. She studies second language acquisition by children with autism under the supervision of Dr. Ji Young Kim. Her doctoral research focuses on second language phonetic imitation ability of children with varying Autism Quotient (AQ) scores. Through her research, she hopes to better understand the linguistic profile of children with autism and their bilingualism potential. Madie completed her undergraduate education at UC Berkeley in 2019, earning a BA in Molecular Biology and a BA in Spanish Linguistics, and graduating magna cum laude. Madie spends her summers working at the University of Washington Autism Center at a Summer Treatment Program for children with various developmental disorders.
